Cell Phone Events

Our proprietary MerchantListings functionality is nearly ready for release. We had originally hoped to release this feature set when we release our mobile tickets service, but technical issues prevailed and prevented us from releasing the MerchantListings.

When we release the features, you will be able to add your favorite venues, performers, artists, and sports teams to your personalized Phone Events service. Upon doing so, you’ll always have in hand updated events and available tickets for all of your favorites. You’ll also receive promotions and offers directly from the venues, performers, artists, and sports teams.

The Phone Events mobile tickets service went live on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. This makes Phone Events the first to offer true mobile ticket services in north america.

Using Phone Events mobile tickets you can find and buy hard to find tickets for concerts, sporting events, theater, and other types of events in your city. You can also hook up your friends with ticket information by simply using the Phone Events share on network function.

It’s quick and easy to find tickets to your favorite teams, bands, and more. Remember, you can also access and buy tickets using your computer at PhoneEvents.com.

Vanessa Hudgens and Corbin Bleu of High School Musical are part of this weeks’ highlighted tickets on sale. They’re performing at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico together. Alanis Morissette has more than 10 concert dates including Los Angeles, Boston, Atlanta, and Las Vegas on sale. Finally, tickets for the 2008 NFL season are for sale. This week includes the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, and the San Francisco 49ers.

All of these tickets can be purchased using Phone Events beginning tomorrow, July 23rd, 2008. We launch our mobile ticketing platform which will make it possible for you to get tickets to almost all events, even if they’re sold out. This weeks’ full tickets on sale by phone are below:

Tickets to see Janet Jackson’s upcoming tour at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT are part of the highlighted tickets onsale this week at phoneevents.com. The Smashing Pumpkins have dates in Davenport, IA and Louisville, KY available as well. Rock icons The Who have tickets for performances at the Mohegan Sun Arena and the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles onsale to round out a great week which also features 3 Doors Down, Alice Cooper, Chris Isaak, Elton John, Fergie, Hanson, Nas, Opeth, Beck, and Jessica Simpson.

We’ve entered our final stages of testing for our mobile tickets service, and will post as soon as we release the service. Stay tuned. 

Rascal Flatts has mobile tickets on sale by phone this week for a concert at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. Also on sale this week are mobile tickets for Sugarland who will be performing at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino Event Center in Verona, New York. Kelly Clarkson also has mobile tickets on sale by phone for a performance at the Reno Events Center. More dates are also added for Jordin Sparks & Jesse McCartney, Marc Anthony, and 3 Doors Down.

September 20th in Tacoma marks the kick off of this year’s “So You Think You Can Dance Tour” which will feature finalists Chelsie H, Comfort, Courtney G, Katee, Kherington, Gev, Joshua, Mark, Twitch, and Will. The 40 city tour hits Los Angeles, San Diego, Oakland, Sacramento, Houston, Austin, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Boston, Miami, Tampa, and more. Last tour date is November 17th in Tampa, Florida.

We’ll have tickets, so be sure to set up the right venue in your city as one of your favorites. As soon as tickets become available, you’ll see them on your My Phone Events profile.

The Who will be touring the United States this fall opening October 21st at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, Michigan. The 10 date tour will wrap up on November 9th at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Phone Events will have tickets, even if the shows sell out. Tickets go on sale this week for concerts featuring American Idol alums Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks. Carrie Underwood has tickets for sale for shows in Houston and Austin Texas, as well as Champaign Illinois. Jordin Sparks is touring with Jesse McCartney, and has tickets on sale for concerts in Los Angeles, Denver, San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Sacramento.

When we release the Phone Events mobile tickets service in the next few days you will be able to add your favorite artists to your favorites as part of your profile. This will give you complete concert tour dates as well as all available tickets, even for shows which are sold out. You will also get special ticket promotions and offers directly to your phone. As a reminder, Phone Events does not use text message spam, so you won’t have any charges for our services except if you purchase tickets.

The hype about Apple’s App Store is at fever pitch levels right now given tomorrow’s release of the iPhone 3G. Lost in the noise is the fact that there are some great mobile applications and services that do not require users to download software to their cell phones. PhoneEvents.com is one of those applications, and it simply rocks on the iPhone and iPhone 3G.

All of the original iPhone functionality, including the ability to pan and zoom, vertical and horizontal viewing, and the accelerometer effects are in use on Phone Events. These iPhone functions kick ass on Phone Events when using the iPhone and iPhone 3G. Truthfully, the iPhone is the ultimate showcase for both PhoneEvents.com and PhoneEvents.mobi. We suggest you try it and decide for yourself.

After days of bug fixes and code reviews we have managed to isolate and fix the bugs which caused us to miss yesterday’s release date of our mobile tickets service. We expect to get back on track and release the mobile tickets service within the next week, give or take a few days. In the mean time, you can start planning to add your favorite pro football team, concert, play, artist, or local theater to your Phone Events profile so that you always know “what’s happening now” by phone.

Remember, you won’t need an iPhone, or any other expensive smart phone to use Phone Events mobile tickets service. Any cell phone which accesses the Internet works with Phone Events without any downloads required, even an old Motorola RAZR.

We’ve recently expanded network capacity for user’s contacts. Users can now import up to 300 contacts from Yahoo Mail, Google’s Gmail, and MSN Hotmail. This function takes about 5 seconds to create your own network for sharing events by phone. You can create multiple groups, as well as share a phone event with a member or two of a given group that you create. Overall, this is a great way to get the word out on concerts, the hot dj at  the cool night club, that cool bar, or any other event that you want to share with your personal network.
